Failure, the part of life no one wants to deal with

You do with failure what you want, you can allow it rule you or learn from it

Failure is a free lesson on what not to do next time.

I have had many failures in my little time on earth, at time it felt like I was not smart enough or worth of success. But as I went through life and all this failure I realized that, all this was is a lesson on how to go about something in life. My biggest failures that I punished myself on were not passing when I was in varsity. And I know I am not the only one that goes through this or have gone through it.

I went to three different tertiary institutions since I finished secondary school in 2011. I went to the University of Cape Town, University of Venda and the last one was the one I finally graduated from which was culinary school (Capsicum culinary studio). Now the first two varsities I went to did not go well at all. In UCT, the first year I did well because I passed everything and it was not a bad year at all. Then came the second year when I was getting used to the varsity and working in my residence as well. This year was hard in terms of I was confused on what I wanted to do with my life and my studies. But I made it through the year just barley though. The failing part came in the last year I was there, I was struggling throughout the year and the end was bad, I knew I was going to be academically excluded. This was my first time failing in school.

I was so broken I went through all my emotions of anger at myself to crying realizing that it was all over but I had no degree to show for the three years I was in varsity. I did not know how to process all of this and I had no plan of what I was going to do for the next coming year. But when I got home and spoke to my family we decided that I would do a late application the next university which was UNIVEN. With my brothers help I got in and was credited for my classes that I did at UCT. And the first year I was there went well, I passed everything and I was so happy. Then the second year came along and this is when the struggle came back and I did not do well that year (I failed). But I did not give up, I didn’t know what I was going to do but I knew I was going to do something.

So that’s when I spoke to my brother and we decided that it was time I followed my dreams. Now this is when I went to the culinary school where I just graduated with one distinction and one merit (basically an A and a B).

This showed me that failure is not the ends of your dreams or career. When one door closes another one opens. Failure would be to give up and so anything. Life will through you huddles and mountains, all you have to do is get over them to rip the rewards. Giving up is never an option.

If you fail at something, take a step back and evaluate what went wrong and how you could have done some things differently and change those things and see what happens, and if it still fails do the same thing again until you get it right and succeed.

The lesson you should get from this blog post is that never give up and this also applies when you are in the kitchen as well. If your recipe falls the first time, try it again and again until you get the results you want.

I hope this helps you get out of your head if you fail and realize even the best of people in history had failures but they never allowed them stop their achievements and it will not stop you either. Take charge to this year and if you failed at something last year, look at what you did wrong and change it. Let this year be your year, you can do anything you want with hard work and determination.
