So finally I got to culinary school, and then fear starts sipping into my brain, so you might ask 'fear of what?' and the answer is of something new. I had gotten to a school for my passion and I was scared of the new environment( I was away from home again) but this time I was afraid of failing. But that eventually went away when I started attending the classes.
To be honest culinary school is very expensive but thank God for my family willing to support me. The school that I found was not too expensive but not the cheapest, of course that is according to the school but yes it is not the most expensive and I got in with a little bit of a discount.
My issue with the school lack of communication when it comes to a lot of things, like the first time I called the school to ask them if they had full time classes at the Pretoria campus and I was told no its only part time, but when I got to the school I dint out that they had the classes. That was annoying and it did not make any sense.
So we finally start classes which were so nice and amazing because I was learning about things I had only seen on tv. And I also loved the part time classes because the chef could pay attention to all of us because it was a small group. It also meant I got to know the group I was with and that helped a lot. The test were good and easy enough if you practiced and gave yourself time.
So we finally we start our internship at a restaurant that they found for us and then we go do the "interviews" and then the restaurants decide if they want you or not, the one I went to did want me. And that is an experience I will share with you on the next post.
Then the internship ended and we had exams coming up and this is were things started to go the wrong way with the school. The exam day for the school, we were not being told on time( now this is were the communication breakdown started to go wrong). some people got the emails and some did not so we had to tell each other as students the information, but we write the exam in the end.
Now comes a test that we had not written in its time and had to schedule it and we wrote that about a months after we were supposed to be done with the school. we were also starting with the filling and that was a challenge on its own. because we wrote a test at a later date it meant that the filling had to wait for the results and then we could fill our POE( Proof of Evidence).
Then the school stopped communicating with us about anything really. we had to email and WhatsApp and call in to the school just to get the information we should have been getting given in the first place. The most annoying thing is one person gets an email about something and the others don't. Oh and the cherry on topic they lost my assignment and this was cause of one person and my graduation was in jeopardy because someone lost my assignment and did not say anything about it to anyone.
But thank the stars I found out about it and re-submitted my assignment and now I am going to graduate this year and I am so happy and excited about the graduation.
